Armed Robbery on Russell and Benvenue

The University of California Berkeley Police Department issued a crime advisory Wednesday about an armed robbery that happened over the weekend.

A man and woman were robbed at gunpoint while walking by the corner of Russell Street and Benvenue Avenue early Sunday morning.

The victims were approached by two men at 12:54 a.m. One of the men pulled out a handgun and demanded money and cell phones from the victims, according to a University of California Berkeley Police Department report. The victims handed over their property and were not harmed.

Berkeley police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

The suspects were described as two black men in their late 20s. Both men were about six feet tall with medium builds and wearing gray sweatshirts.
