Another Cell-Phone Robbery – Mid-day South of Campus

UC Berkeley police report that a woman was robbed of her cellphone at five minutes after noon on Monday at Durant Avenue Dana Street, a normally busy intersection in the heart of the south campus neighborhood.

UC Berkeley police today, Wednesday, released the following crime alert about a cell phone robbery a block south of campus on Monday during the lunch hour:

Strong Arm Robbery
Durant Avenue and Dana Street

On Monday, May 6, 2013 at approximately 12:05 p.m. a strong arm robbery occurred near the intersection of Dana and Durant.  The suspect was hiding near the intersection and jumped out at the female victim as she walked
by.  The suspect forcibly grabbed the victim’s cell phone from her hand. The suspect fled the scene in a white Toyota Camry.  The vehicle was last seen driving eastbound on Durant.  The 23 year old victim, unknown affiliation, was not physically injured during the encounter.  BPD and UCPD searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as:

A Black male in his early 20s, with a medium build, wearing a gray shirt and black gym shorts.
