2 Students Robbed at Gunpoint at UC Housing Complex

UC Berkeley police are seeking two men who wore bandanas over their faces and robbed a pair of students at gunpoint early this morning, Tuesday, on steps of a building at the Clark Kerr housing complex.

Two students sitting on exterior steps of a building at UC Berkeley's Clark Kerr housing complex were robbed at gunpoint early this morning, Tuesday, by two men wearing bandanas over their faces, UC Berkeley police said in a crime alert.

A 12:41 a.m. today, Aug. 6, a female and a male, both summer students, were sitting on steps on the west side of Building 2 when approached by the two robbers, one of whom displayed gun, police said.

The armed robber took backpacks and a wallet from the vicitms and ran away toward Warring Street, according to police. The Clark Kerr Campus is located at 2601 Warring Street.

"The victims were not injured during the encounter," the police alert said. "UCPD and BPD (Berkeley Police Department) checked the area and were unable to locate the suspects."

UC police said the two suspects were described as:

  • Black, male, approximately 25 years of age, approximately 5’-6” in height, thin build, wearing dark clothing, a dark bandana, and armed with a firearm.
  • Black, male, approximately 25 years of age, approximately 5’-6” in height, thin build, wearing dark clothing and a dark bandana.
