12-Year-Old Boy Struck by Car While Crossing Street

The boy was taken to a local hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police officials said.

A 12-year-old boy was struck and injured by a car in Berkeley this afternoon, a police spokeswoman said.

The boy was crossing Stuart Street near Shattuck Avenue around 3:25 p.m. when he was hit, Berkeley police spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Coats said.
 
The boy suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening and was taken to a hospital for treatment, she said. The driver involved in the collision stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police, Coats said.

She said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision.
