Teley Street Fair Cord Pulled

WildEyes Sf Wild Rockers' Cord Pulled by Mayor;Almost Pulls Cord on Teley Sunday Street Fair

EMBEDDED SOUTH SIDE
By Ted Friedman/Berkeley ReporterSept. 1, 2013

Janet Klein, fair organizer, and Mayor Tom Bates  muffled  WildEyes SF, Sunday, almost muffling Teley's eleven-week Sunday fair, but the popular SF group returned for a stirring second (fair-saving) set at half-volume.

With one more week left to boost attendance, Teley event planners are looking forward to next week to go out with a bang.
WildEyes SF returns and possibly another headlining group up the sleeve of booker, Ken Sarachan (owner, Rasputin).

This Sunday added student activities tables, Cal cheerleaders, drum dancers, step-dancers and other new musical groups.

"Has Berkeley gone fascist?" I was asked by a member of Wild Eyes SF, which I found drowning their muffled anger over being muffled--in Pabst Blue Ribbons at Pappy's Sports Bar.

Event security was beefed up to four BPD officers and two plainclothes security guards, sponsored by avenue property owners. Police said there were no incidents.
