Bong Brings Bust on Telegraph

EXCLUSIVE:

He was being hand-cuffed behind his back by Berkeley cops when I stepped outside the Med to report.

A composite account from my most reliable street sources: someone tossed (a possibly stolen bong), a giant glass marijuana intake device, into a city trash can.
The suspect retrieved it for street-score, placed it on his table outside the Caffe Mediterraneum, 2475Telegraph, and proceeded to allegedly (and casually) smoke a marijuana cigarette just as three bike patrolmen wheeled by.

Patrols were beefed up to prepare for Cal move-in day, Saturday, when Telegraph swarms with parents.

Police removed the bong, and the suspect's backpack to their squad car trunk before transporting him to Berkeley City Jail.

The suspect cooperated with police throughout the incident.

Disclaimer: I have a casual "wassup friendship" with the suspect, who nodded and winked at me several times before being removed from his big scene.
