Funeral Services Tuesday for Long-Time State Senator Nicholas C. Petris
Petris represented East Bay districts in the Caifornia State Assembly and State Senate for nearly 40 years. He died Wednesday at the age of 90.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Oakland's Greek Orthodox Church for former State Senator Nicholas C. Petris, according to an article in the Oakland Tribune.
Petris, 90, died Wednesday in Oakland, the city where he was born and raised, media reports said.
A Democrat who championed the rights of the mentally ill and efforts to save San Francisco Bay, Petris served in the state Assembly for eight years and in the State Senate for 30 years before terming out in 1996.
