Berkeley Deaths: Rothenberg, Suresh, Westergaard

Three Berkeley residents passed away recently: Clare Rothenberg, 85, Hemalatha Suresh, 63, and Isabel I. Westergaard, 93.

Claire Rothenberg: A native of Chicago, Rothenberg moved to Berkeley with her husband and children in 1966. She wrote a number of songs, including "A Whole Lotta Loving" sung by Fats Domino. She also sang with the Berkeley Community Chorus. She co-owned Stoll and Rothenberg Framing and volunteered at the Berkeley-Richmond Jewish Community Center. Rothenberg died June 11 at the age of 85.

Hemalatha Suresh: A resident of Berkeley, Suresh was born in Bangalore. She was an active member of the Indian community. She died July 1 at the age of 63.

Isabel I. Westergaard: A resident of Berkeley, Westergaard was born in Mexico. She is survived by five sons, 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-granchildren. Westergaard died on July 2 at the age of 93.
