Though hundreds of people showed up in Berkeley to see MSNBC television host Rachel Maddow speak about her first published book Drift: The Unmooring of Political Military Power, a small group of Castro Valley High School student journalists were the ones to score an exclusive interview with her.
Right before taking the stage at Berkeley's Martin Luther King Middle School, she sat with six students from The Olympian to talk about what it was like growing up in Castro Valley, how she stumbled into a media career, among other things.
The actual interview starts at about :23 seconds in.
(Castro Valley Patch shot the video with the help of Lily Carrell, Suzanna Chak, Rebecca Fong and Melody Moteabbed, along with their advisor, Matt Johanson.)
