El Cerrito's "Tiger Mom" on Newsweek Cover

Amy Chua, the neighboring El Cerrito High grad who wrote the best-selling, controversial "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother," has the cover story in the March 12 issue of Newsweek about Chinese "Tiger Women" who became self-made billionaires.

Graduate of El Cerrito High,   following the international uproar over her book, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother has the cover article in the March 12 issue of Newsweek profiling four billionaire "Tiger Women" from China.

China now "has more self-made female billionaires than any other country in the world," Chua writes. "This is not only because China has more females than any other nation. Many of these extraordinary women rose from nothing, despite living in a traditionally patriarchal society. They are a beguiling advertisement for the New China—bold, entrepreneurial, and tradition-breaking."

The article profiles four of the women and also includes a 2-minute, 51-second video interview with Chua.
