Video Games for Mathematics: A public talk by Dr. Keith Devlin

Dr.
Keith Devlin, a professor of mathematics at Stanford University, has developed casual games to enable children
(and adults) to learn basic math by “playing,” the same way we can learn
music by learning to play the piano.

Devlin's current research is focused on the use of different media to teach and communicate mathematics to diverse audiences.  In this connection, he is a co-founder and president of an educational video games company, InnerTube Games.  And, he is also known to NPR
listeners as “the Math Guy.”

Dr. Devlin's talk is part of the "Not on the Test: The Pleasures and Uses of Mathematics" lecture series presented in 2013-14 by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) and Berkeley City College and made possible with funding from the Simons Foundation.
