USAF Travis Brass Free Concert

Travis Brass, the brass quintet from the United Air Force Band of the Golden West, will be presenting a free concert at 1:00 PM on October 20, 2013 at the Freight and Salvage Coffeehouse, 2020 Addison Street, Berkeley.  Travis Brass, along with the other members of the Band of the Golden West, is stationed at Travis Air Force Base, California.  The ensemble is comprised of two trumpets, horn, trombone, tuba, and percussion.  

A brassy blend of sound, style, and humor make Travis Brass an entertaining ensemble for audiences of all kinds.  From community concerts to high level military functions, quality is the hallmark of this exciting group.  All of the group's members are dedicated to music education, sharing their enthusiasm and expertise in a lively education program presented to young audiences across the West Coast.  Travis Brass also provides clinics and masterclasses to secondary school and college students.

The only active duty Air Force band west of the Rockies, the Band of the Golden West is comprised of 60 talented and versatile Airmen-musicians under the command of Captain Jason S. Plosch. In addition to performing for civilian communities throughout the states of California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah, the band supports 13 Air Force Bases, 8 Air Force Reserve Wings, and 6 recruiting squadrons in over 250 annual performances for 1.5 million listeners.

The organization offers 7 outstanding performing groups: Concert Band, Ceremonial Marching Band, The Commanders jazz ensemble, Mobility popular music ensemble, The Blue Yonders folk rock band, Travis Brass quintet and Golden West Winds woodwind quintet. Additionally, the Band of the Golden West provides solo vocalists for the performance of our National Anthem and solo buglers for Taps details.
