Participants in our middle school program learn and develop their skills in sculling boats - singles, doubles, and quads. Sculling, or rowing with two oars (which creates an evenly distributed pull) is internationally recognized and established as the way for young, physically developing middle school athletes to learn this incredible, positive team and individual sport.
Beginners (6th and 7th grade)practice 2x a week and learn the basics of sculling (rowing with two oars) in a safe, flat-water environment. On water instruction highlights water safety, proper rowing technique, balance, ability to work with others, and rowing terminology. Upon completion of the beginners session, they graduate to join experienced middle schoolers.
