“Vanished: Berkeley’s Lost Businesses and Institutions” Exhibit Opening: “Vanished” is inspired by the Berkeley Historical Society’s members’ comments along with its archive of photos and other memorabilia that illustrate the changes that have occurred in Berkeley. The curators, Phil and Phyllis Gale opened up the archive and have used never before seen Hinks Department Store's photos and ephemera. The exhibit also includes the original Haws drinking fountains invented in Berkeley, the 'hot fudge' warmer from Ozzie's Soda Fountain, the hats worn by the Berkeley Junior Traffic Patrol, and many other treasures.
