Community Corner

Etsy Craft Party: Albany/Berkeley, CA

Love to create? Looking for unique and easy techniques for DIY projects? Meet and mingle for an evening of fun, inspiration, and community at our fabulous Etsy Craft Party on Thursday, June 20, 2013.  On that one day, we’ll join with thousands across the globe gathering to make a positive impact within their communities. Here’s our Party plan:

Learn to print your own artwork and photos directly on fabric with an inkjet printer. Heidi Rand, author of "Inkjet Printing on Fabric" will do hands-on demos using your images, and share expert advice on the whole process, from equipment that works best to getting the fabric through the printer. kayla garelick, of daydreaming arts, will demo printing lengths of fabric (think scarves).

The first 15 people to register and email Heidi a jpg of their own work will get to print their images at the Party (more if time permits). To get on the list and receive details contact Heidi at HeidiRand@gmail.com.

Learn to print on fabric using stamps and stencils with Grace Taormina. We’ll provide a huge variety of stamps, stencils and paints for you to create and experiment on 12" muslin squares that you can take home and use for other projects.

Learn several quick-sew or no-sew projects using felt for ponchos, scarfs, and more, with Michele Battise!  And we’ll have recycled leather pieces that you can use in your designs and projects. Do you have a fabulous fabric technique you’d like to share?  Let us know so we can include it.

We’ll provide all the crafting supplies and equipment needed, including having sewing machines for you to complete your projects. Feel free to bring your own supplies, fabric, stamps, paint, etc! **Proceeds from the $10 ticket sale and raffle will cover supplies and your donation to La Clinica de La Raza, a healthcare organization serving low and moderate income families in the East Bay area.
