Democracy in a Global World - Speaker Series Panel Discussion

I-House Speaker Series Fall 2013

Elements of democracies emerge and disappear at a disquieting rate in several regions of the world. The panel will explore the challenges of transition and development that emerging democracies face as well as the complex democracy-building process that follows regimes toppling.

Panelists include, Jeremy Kinsman, retired Canadian career diplomat; Dr. Sarah Eltantawi, Sultan Postdoctoral Fellow, Center for Middle Eastern Studies; Professor M. Steven Fish, comparative political scientist and Professor Nezar AlSayyad, UCB Department of Architecture, Planning, Urban Design, and Urban History.

This event is co-sponsored by UC Berkeley Political Science department, the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and
the Institute of International Studies.
