Community Corner

Berkeley Spark

Join us as we celebrate creativity and community collaboration where the Burning Man culture and the diverse strands of our local community are interwoven. If you're curious about Burning Man, have attended the event, or you're into local art and music, stop by.

Artists joining us include Laura Inserra from Samavesha, Zach Pine from Soul Sanctuary, a sculpture called 'Arc of Reflection' by Amy Stabler (Burning Man 2003), interactive art from ArtIsMobilUs and live painting by Freespace SF artist Michael Covington.

Meet artists and their art cars before they head out to the Nevada desert. Connect with local theme camps.  Experience ecstatic dance and silent disco with friends and family.  Spark your playa preparations with burn-friendly clothing vendors and accessory designers, lighting specialists and other innovative types supplying gear and supplies you'll need for your next camping trip.  Explore the colorful ways to decorate your bike.  Spend time in our beer garden, hosted by Drake's Brewing Company and The Mead Kitchen.  Inspired by Burning Man’s Ten Principles, Berkeley Spark is a place for radical self-expression, inclusivity, transformation and mutual respect.

Join our Green Space Dance Partners from 10:30am - 4:00pm on the lawn: Barefoot Boogie, Dance Journey, DJ Neptune, Ecstatic Dance Oakland and Silent Storm Sound System.

Beginning at 3pm, local beer from the Drakes Brewing Company and honey wine from The Mead Kitchen will be available.  You must be 21 years of age to enjoy the beer and wine garden.

This is a LEAVE NO TRACE event so we ask that you are mindful of the park and neighboring residents and take all of your belongings home with you as well as recycle and dispose of your refuse appropriately.

Do you have mutant vehicle?  A sculpture you'd like to exhibit? Are you an East Bay theme camp?  Got a great idea for a maker's/crafting workshop? Do you enjoy volunteering?  We'd love to hear from you!  E-mail Kat at berkeleyspark@gmail.com
