According to Laura Soble at Berkeley's Youth Musical Theatre Company, the final earthquake shook the during a performance of "." Soble described the event in an email:

It was one of those memorable LIVE theatre moments. The 17-year-old singer/actor playing Charles Kringas, Misha Riley of Richmond, was in the middle of a song... the entire Julia Morgan rumbled from floor to ceiling (we could see the wood beams moving). The actor was in a natural pause in a long solo song... the entire audience and orchestra waited to see what would happen next... and another shake came. Then, without missing too many beats once the shaking stopped, Misha jumped back into the song and the show went on. At the end of the number the audience burst into applause and cheers for several minutes. All of the young actors exercised great poise... and professionalism. [It was] quite exciting to witness.
