Families of Missing Baja Fishermen Fundraise to Continue Search

Families of the seven men still missing after their fishing boat capsized in the Sea of Cortez July Fourth weekend are fundraising to continue the search and bring the men home. , 54, is among the missing men.

Friends and relatives established the group "Find Our Fathers" to "spread the word" and "get support from all local, state and federal government representatives," according to the group's Facebook page.

Since the  on July 12, their families have been petitioning to get recovery efforts reinstated, especially a dive to the sunken boat. 

In the meantime, the families are trying to raise $300,000 to fund a dive themselves. Find Our Fathers will be accepting donations and petition signatures. 

Representatives from the families will be at the Todos Santos Farmer's Market in Concord on Thursday, Aug. 4 from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A rock band will be playing at 6:30 p.m. as part of the weekly Music and Market series (PDF). 

Another event will be held on August 16 at 5 p.m. at the Hawaiian Drive Inn in Alameda, in honor of Wong.
