BART Service Resumes

Power outage in Berkeley, grass fire near Pleasant Hill halted traffic in and out of the area.

BART service in the East Bay is running without a hitch this morning after a power outage in Berkeley and a grass fire near Pleasant Hill affected travel into and out of the area, BART central dispatchers said.

The Berkeley station reopened at 9:11 a.m. after trains on the Richmond-Fremont and Richmond-Millbrae lines were passing through the station because of an outage.

A dispatcher said the station was too dark to allow passengers out, but power has since been restored. Earlier, a grass fire near the Pleasant Hill station was causing 15-minute delays in and out of the station. Trains on the Pittsburg/Bay Point-Millbrae line were back on schedule as of 9:30 a.m., a dispatcher said.

BART "returns" to service? Where is the story of the power outage? I work in Berkeley and it would have been good to know before the people at work told me the power had been out. I work with sensitive audio equipment and knowing about power losses is far more important than BART returning (but I live in Marin where BART doesn't go.) When was it out, for how long, and why this time? And when next?
Is Berkeley's infrastructure crumbling?

The name is weirdly spelled, but not this weird. It's Caffe, not Caffee. I've only typed these wordsRead More a thousand times.
