Allergic to Fall?

Sensitivities to dampness,  cold weather, overcast light, air change with rain, flashing light, motion , sound, EMF’s or fog are more common than people realize.  Many of my patients develop symptoms from these sensitivities and some have no idea of the cause.  Many more are triggered by the stress of the holidays; both memories of holidays past and the stress of meeting today’s holiday expectations.

Are these really allergies?  My understanding of how we habitually develop symptoms when exposed to stimuli has expanded in the past 4 years of treating allergy patients.   My husband, Russ, used to be sensitive to cats and before he was treated, he noticed that his breathing got tight just from looking at pictures of cats!

The treatments that I offer to patients are a way to retrain our body’s response to stimuli.   The protocol is to first discover what causes us to go weak and then combine exposure to the offending allergen with a recognizable healing modality.   The result seems to be that our body will make a new association with that stimulus and release us from the cycle of symptoms and distress.

Besides the great satisfaction I receive from helping people, it is exciting to be a part of this growing awakening to the health effects of our environment.   While it is essential to be informed about diet and lifestyle choices, allergies and sensitivities can get in the way of achieving our health-related goals.  Once we clear the habitual response (allergies) to healthy foods and benign stimuli, we can truly discover vibrant health.
