The Framer's Outlet Opens June 15th at Telegraph & Channing

2013 marks a banner year for The Framer’s Workshop, a 36 year old institution in the Telegraph Avenue shopping district. While the independent custom frame industry is shrinking, and while Telegraph Avenue struggles, this business is not only thriving, but expanding. On June 15th Kirstie Bennett & Jeff Goldberg, along with their daughter Chelsea, will expand the shop into the adjacent space at 2435 Channing Way. The new 1400 sq. ft. shop, “The Framer’s Outlet,” will focus on selling ready-made frames and budget framing options. What makes this shop different from any other ready-made frame shop in the country, is that like their original shop, The Framer’s Outlet will include free services along with purchase of frames. Customers buy a frame and then may get immediate help to assemble their project. Hardware is included, mats and UV glass upgrades can be ordered and cut on the spot, and within a short time the customer leaves with framed art that rivals a more expensive custom framed project. This Bay Area Green Business builds many ready-made frames from custom framing remnants. This not only recycles premium materials, but gives consumers on a budget a constantly replenished selection of one-of-a kind frames at bargain prices and keeps the business within Bay Area Green guidelines. With the addition of the popular Melt grilled cheese sandwich shop, and the long lines waiting for CREAM ice cream sandwiches at the corner of Telegraph and Channing, the expansive new window frontage of The Framer’s Outlet will add beauty, artistry, and color to this section of Telegraph Avenue, and the new shop will expand the number of unique and stable locally owned and operated businesses.
