9th Anniversary of Taste of the Himalayas

Berkeley’s Best: Taste of the Himalayas -as published in Berkeley Daily Planet is celebrating its 9th anniversary and Cookbook Release party on Jan. 8th 2014.  The restaurant has become one of the iconic in the great Gourmet Ghetto of North Berkeley and featured many times in local and main stream News Medias including San Francisco Chronicles. Executive Chef and co-owner Dhruva Thapa’s cookbook featuring Himalayan Foods will be released on the special occasion by Chief Guest Douglass Oseroff, Nobel Prize winner in Physics and Professor of  Stanford University. On the occasion another prominent writer, poet and evolutionary Biologist David Seaborg will give a short presentation about The World Rain forest Fund.
The program is schedule to  held in the hall of Yoga Kula, just upstairs of Taste of the Himalayas restaurant, Berkeley. The event is also jointly organized by  Yoga Kula ,  a Wellness Center that offers a diverse range of services, intended to nurture your soul, strengthen your body and bring balance into your life. Yoga Kula will also offer variety of programs on the occasion.
The Cookbook by Dhruva Thapa is the outcome of his passion and dedication to cook Himalayan Foods. The book features many Himalayan foods that is not available in any restaurant, so the book will open up the door to the culinary journey of the Himalayas. This book takes you to the culinary journey of the hidden valleys, mountains and plains of the Greater Himalayan Region. Some rare and unique recipes have been included in the book, said Dhruva Thapa. He is a  writer, poet, Journalist and author of his poetry collection.
This cookbook is being published on the special occasion of 9th anniversary of Taste of the Himalayas in Berkeley. His cooking recipes are also featured in Yogi Times Magazine and the Berkeley Athletic Fund (BAF), Karma Kitchen and in Food.com  online network. The book has beautiful photographs taken by one of the prominent Photographer , Jamie Soja. Jamie has been a Bay Area-based photographer for the past ten years who has photographed luminaries such as President Obama, the Dalai Lama, and Bill Gates. One of Jamie’s expertise is doing  food photography.
