It's National Chocolate Ice Cream Day

Do you need an excuse to eat chocolate ice cream?

Last week we had National Donut Day on June 4, which, according to Wikipedia, was modeled on an event created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.

There was also national running day on June 1 and the entire month of July has been dubbed National Ice Cream month.

But today is special, because it's National Chocolate Ice Cream Day, and now that the weather has started to look like it's accurate, it's time to take advantage of a good excuse for some yummy indulgence.

iScream on Solano Avenue hadn't heard of the holiday when I called this morning, but owner Robin Dalrymple was happy to adapt. "We'll give free fudge sauce with all chocolate ice cream," she said.

Here are only a few suggestions for getting some creamy, chocolatey, sweet sensations in Berkeley:
