Green Beer — Oops, Make That Green Beard — for St. Patrick's Day in Berkeley

Ireland is notoriously family-centered, and St. Patrick's Day at Berkeley's own Irish outpost, the Starry Plough, was a family affair, the East Bay Express reports in this week's "Last Call" column.

Three generations of the Starry Plough family, plus a host of little kids, were on hand for the March 17 celebration, which doubled as a 40th anniversary party. So was Green Beard Guy, sporting lime-green whiskers for the occasion.

"It was the finest beard I've ever seen," the Express bar critic reports.
