Berkeley's Disappearing Murals

Sometimes really fabulous murals get painted over, for no good reason.

Murals, as opposed to graffiti, tend to be more than temporary works in as much as they were created with a building owner’s permission. However, permission that is given can also be taken away, and I am sad to report several great works that have been painted over in the last year or so. Scroll through the photos for the “before and afters” or just to say goodbye to some old friends.

The good news is that new works are being created all the time. I'll put all the new ones created so far in 2011 in a separate post.

Happy Holidays!
