Launch of Urban Exhibition of Larger Than Life Black and White Portraits Throughout City of Oakland, California!
Saturday March 10th, the Inside Out | Occupy Oakland team is finalizing their campaign to USE ART TO TURN OAKLAND INSIDE OUT. If the team can raise succesful funds by Sunday night, Oakland will become the home of an exciting urban exhibition featuring Occupy Oakland Portraits of distinct scale and historic importance. The documentary photographs will live on the facades and city walls, revealing the story of Occupiers from all walks of life.
The Inside Out | Occupy Oakland Team is participating in the global art project, Inside Out, along with over 200 projects worldwide. The Inside Out Project is a creation of the artist JR, recipient of the 2011 TED Prize (watch JR’s TED talk). You can visit the Inside Out website to see stunning examples of some of the projects that are popping up in over 9,000 locations all over the globe. Inside Out | Occupy Oakland is quickly gaining recognition around the world, including networks in Belgium, France, the UK, and Mexico. The portraits have already begun to spark constructive dialogue around the world and are receiving international attention.
The team has raised almost $6,000 in less than three weeks and are $2,000 short of reaching our funding requirement on Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/insideoutoccupy/inside-out-occupy-oakland). If they do not reach $8,000 by Sunday, this project will not be funded. They are reaching our for support, whether monetary or social--sharing with interested networks, communities, and media. Saturday and Sunday are the final campaign days for the team. It's time to show your support! Location site is home of the 2nd set of large-than-life portraits, however campaign is virtual.
