1. June 3 – Bicyclist Killed on I-80 in Berkeley Identified

The Alameda County coroner's bureau has released the identity of the bicyclist who was struck and killed by a truck on Interstate 80 when he tried to cross to the median divider early Saturday morning. He was Michael Arthur, 24, of Jamaica Plain, MA.

2. June 2 – BHS Senior Wins Gates Millennium Scholarship

Berkeley High School senior Anaiya Olivares is one 1,000 students nationwide chosen to receive the Gates Millennium Scholarship, which means her costs are covered through graduation at a college or university of her choice.

3. June 3 – Two Cal Students Attacked by Group on Grizzly Peak Blvd.

Two male students from UC Berkeley were punched and kicked by a group of about 8-10 young men and women at a lookout on Griizzly Peak Boulevard about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, UC police said. One suffered multiple injuries to his face.

4. June 6 – Berkeley Crime: 2 Robberies, 1 at gunpoint; Home Burglary on Grizzly Peak

The Berkeley Police crime blotter for May 26 to June 1 includes an armed robbery of of woman's wallet and cell phone, robbery of a woman's jewelry, a stolen Honda, a laptop stolen from a car, and a computer and jewelry stolen from a home.

5. June 3 – East Bay Hepatitis A Case Linked to Costco Recalled Frozen Berries

A Contra Costa County woman is one of at least 34 people in the nation believed to have contracted Hepatitis A from Townsend Farms Antioxidant Blend frozen berries sold at Costco since late February. Officials warn consumers not to eat them.
