This IS News: No Wood-Burning Ban Thursday
The winds have picked up and blown away enough of the lingering pollution that Bay Area air quality officials have lifted the wood-burning ban after an unprecedented 11 straight days of Spare the Air alerts.

The string has been broken.
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has decided against calling a Winter Spare the Air alert for Thursday.
That means wood burning will be allowed both indoors and outdoors.
The air quality district had ordered a record-breaking 11 straight Spare the Air alerts.
The cold, still weather of the past two weeks had prompted the alerts.
Stronger winds have moved into the Bay Area, blowing away some of the particulate matter that had been hugging the lower elevations since early December.
The winds, however, are forecast to become so strong in the East Bay hills beginning in the early hours Thursday until Thursday evening that the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory, warning of possible gusts up to 60 miles per hour and increased fire danger.
