Pet of the Week: Wally

Wally is an adorable Chihuahua who was found living on the streets. Loud noises scare him, but he is affectionate and friendly towards everyone. He has been at the Berkeley Animal Shelter since June and is looking for a quiet new home.

Wally is an affectionate male Chihuahua who loves to cuddle and sit on laps. he is house-trained and gets along with other dogs. He is quite friendly but can get scared of loud noises during walks.

He was found on the corner of 4th and Virginia streets, not too far from the Berkeley Animal Shelter, in June. He is five years old and neutered and would love a quiet home. His caretakers at the animal shelter say his loving attitude will certainly brighten your day.

Update: Last week's Pet of the Week, Kamri, is in danger of being euthanized if she doesn't find a home soon. A generous donor has paid for the $100 adoption fee but she is still in urgent need of a new home.

The Berkeley Animal Shelter houses stray or abandoned domestic animals from Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville, and Piedmont and provides adoption services to find them a new home. Anyone can adopt a pet. Here's how!

1. Bring a valid form of identification
2. Bring proof that your home can house a pet (either a lease agreement allowing pets or proof of home ownership)
3. Bring the application fee ($125 for dogs, $100 for cats, $25 for rabbits, birds, and exotics, and $10 for rodents)
4. Fill out an application at the shelter!

The Animal Shelter at the City of Berkeley is located on 1 Bolivar Drive and is open seven days a week (Mon-Sat: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wed: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sun: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
