Happy Food Day: Share Your Healthy Recipes

The first national food day aims to promote healthy foods, expand fresh-food access and support local agriculture. Celebrate by sharing your healthiest recipes.

Here, at last, is a national campaign centered around something everyone can enjoy — FOOD.

But with two-thirds of American adults and one-third of children being overweight or obese, it seems that food is already enjoyed perhaps too much in the U.S. So, the government declared Oct. 24 to be Food Day — but with a stipulation that it's healthy, local food we're celebrating, not burgers, fries and donuts.

Although junk food is always somewhere nearby, Berkeley happens to have a rich culture of healthy food to help balance the scales.
