Fourth of July Berkeley Events

Vehicle access to the free Marina bash closes at 7 p.m., so get there before then if you want to see the fireworks up close.

Perhaps head north this Monday morning and partake of the  at the Veterans Building. Thus refreshed, join tout Berkeley at these free events: 

Where: , 160 University Ave, Berkeley, CA 94710

When: Monday, July 4, 2011. Noon to 10 p.m.; Adventure Playground opens at 11 a.m.

Why go: This daylong free event offers all kinds of fun. (schedule is available on the website. Haven't you always wanted a dragon-boat ride? The free rides (much more fun because someone else does the rowing) are just part of a whole day of free music, games, kids' activities and — at 9:30 pm —  off the Berkeley Pier. Plus, it's dog-friendly.

Note that vehicle access to the event is closed at 7 p.m. and reopens (so people can leave!) at 10:30 p.m. If you want to see the fireworks from the Marina, be sure to get there well before 7 p.m.

Food will be available for purchase onsite.
