Butterbeer

The favored tipple of witches and wizards alike, Butterbeer is a creamy and delicious treat. Recipes vary across the Mugglesphere, ranging in difficulty. For the more magically talented, try this recipe from the Huffington Post. Otherwise, here's a simpler version from Mugglenet:

  • 1 cup (8 oz) club soda or cream soda
  • ½ cup (4 oz) butterscotch syrup (ice cream topping)
  • ½ tablespoon butter

Directions:

Step 1: Measure butterscotch and butter into a 2 cup (16 oz) glass. Microwave on high for 1 to 1½ minutes, or until syrup is bubbly and butter is completely incorporated.

Step 2: Stir and cool for 30 seconds, then slowly mix in club soda. Mixture will fizz quite a bit.

Step 3: Serve in two coffee mugs or small glasses; a perfectly warm Hogwarts treat for two!

Looking to pair that frothy brew with a nibble? Try  or Butterbeer Cupcakes from the Cookbook Queen blog.

Earl Grey Ice Cream

We all know the British love their tea, and certainly Dumbledore has been partial to "a nice cup of tea" (see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban after Buckbeak's escape. Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge says, "We must search the grounds!" Dumbledore responds: "Search the skies if you must, Minister, but now I think I'll have a nice cup of tea, or a large brandy.")

So, for a sweet treat British-style, try the Earl Grey Ice Cream at  on College Ave.

Sausage-and-Pint Night

It doesn't get more British than pairing sausages with beer. newly instituted "Sausage and Pint Night" does exactly that, every Thursday from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Choose from hot Italian, chicken apple or a bratwurst sausage, complete with a roll and toppings, a side of salad or chips and a pint of beer. Beers include Trumer Pils, Steelhead Extra Pale, Boont Amber Ale and Chocolate Stout.

Enjoy the Hogwarts feast!
