A "fix-a-thon" event is being held at Rosa Parks Elementary School in Berkeley this afternoon to launch a new "BikeMobile" program.
The program, which aims to promote biking to school and bike safety, is a partnership between the Alameda County Transportation Commission, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and Cycles of Change.
An inaugural ceremony at 3 p.m. will launch the pilot program, which will run through November 2013.
The BikeMobile will serve as a mobile repair shop to facilitate safe biking for school children at various county schools and community
centers.
Rosa Parks Elementary School is located at 920 Allston Way in Berkeley.
