Regret to announce the passing, last Saturday, July 6, of Prestley "Skip" Whideman, of sudden cardiac arrest while recovering from cardiovascular surgery. Skip had no direct family of his own, he is survived by his brothers.
Skip was a long-time Berkeley resident. A semi-professional photojournalist, he had been employed for the past several years as a popular counselor at Berkeley High.
Skip loved music of all kinds — he was an old-school Dead Head and Pink Floyd devotee. He was perhaps the least angry, most open-hearted person I knew; I can't think of anyone that didn't like him, but countless who did. I knew him for almost 40 years, and considered him my best friend. There was no one better with whom to trip on LSD. I'll miss him terribly.
