Parental Responsibility

Berkeley Public Library's policy states that parents are responsible for all that their children view in and take from the library.

The library lets children check out material that is not meant for their viewing because the library holds the parent responsible.  Since the parent is held responsible, the library should send a notice to the  parent of what their child checks out .  The library is adding more adult material into their system, particularly DVDs that bypass the Motion Picture Association guidelines honored by this country.  The library should be responsible to the community.  See more at www.libraryquirks.org.
