Berkeley show-off its music program

Fifth-grader Nazabu Kumar Peña-Navarro (center) was one of hundreds (661 to be specifically) of Berkeley's music student who performed at the Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD) art showcase Sunday, March 23, 2014. According to the printed program, this monumental show was a thank-you sideline to “the voters of Berkeley who approved the Berkeley Schools Excellence Project, Measure A, to provide the music programs with staff, instruments, repairs and music sheets.” Amid the financial crisis and the Republican obstructionist postures, this measure made the district one of the few in California to offers a music program for kids grade 4 – 8.
