Green Citizen will extend free e-waste recycling at its , 1971 Shattuck Avenue, through June 30, 2011 to give Bay Area residents additional opportunity to dispose of their unwanted electronics responsibly and at no cost. GreenCitizen eco-centers in four Bay area counties strive to educate visitors regarding the e-waste crisis through informational videos, literature and a knowledgeable front-line staff composed of graduates of top environmental science programs from universities like UC Berkeley.
Items accepted for recycling include monitors and television sets, desktop and laptop computers, printers, fax machines, copiers, home entertainment and stereo equipment, cell phones, answering machines and microwave ovens. GreenCitizen also collects smaller-scale items such as printer cartridges, CDs and DVDs. A complete list of acceptable items can be found on the GreenCitizen website at www.greencitizen.com.
