I admit to having a hard time shunting parental responsibility onto public organizations like libraries. Should groceries report to parents when their kids buy sugar laden drinks?

Seems to me that you can't have everything you want. I don't understand your conflict. You canRead Moreeithe r hunt really hard for a good price on an apartment or live in your wife's car. $4000 isn't divine, it's the product of someone's generosity. I mean we're talking repossession of a newer vehicle presumably on which you've missed payments. Problem is without the finances to continue those payments the same will happen. Buy a cheap car outright or go without as I did with my twins. I know it's hard out there but I know too many that have nothing at all. Consider yourself extremely lucky and stop while you're ahead.
