Bicyclist Attacked By Robbery Suspect on Durant Avenue

The victim suffered minor injuries from the fall and was treated at the scene by the Berkeley Fire Department.

A 21-year-old student was attacked by a robbery suspect along the 2400 block of Durant Avneue on Thursday morning.

At around 5:02 a.m., UC Police Department officers responded to phone call from a “blue light” emergency phone at the Unit-3 Housing Complex regarding a strong-arm robbery, according to police.

The victim was riding his bicycle when a male suspect jumped out at him, causing him to fall from the bicycle. The suspect demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene running eastbound on Durant Avenue, according to police.

UCPD and BPD searched the area but were unable to find the suspect. The victim suffered minor injuries from the fall and was treated at the scene by the Berkeley Fire Department.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 20 to 30 old, medium complexion, 5 ft. 8 inches in height and was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
