Berkeley Research Fellow Wins Oakland Marathon

The marathon, part of the annual oakland Running Festival, attracted more than 9,000 runners.

Shinji Nakadai, a computer science research fellow at UC Berkeley, won the Oakland Marathon on Sunday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Nakadai, 34, told the Chronicle he planned to run home, from Oakland to Berkeley, after completing the 26.2-mile race in 2:37.29. He called Sunday's time "conservative." and said he has run marathons in 10 minutes less.

Devon Yanko, 30, of San Anselmo won the women's division.
