I always enjoy the writing, but to look at this you would think crime never took place in the non-South, non-campus parts of Berkeley. Also I don't think the police interactive map really shows all crime. My 8/19 report hasn't shown up yet on the city map and I have had neighbors tell me about reports I could never find.

@Katherine: We're dependent on official police reports, and sometimes these take many days to emerge in the system. Because UCPD is a smaller force with fewer calls, it can produce reports in more timely fashion. It's likely your 8/19 report came in after our deadline, but then didn't get picked up because I was sent reports for 8/25-31. I am well aware that crime occurs in Northside, and I'll take special care to ensure those areas are represented. Thanks for writing.

Why is there so much crime in Berkeley? It seems as though bikes are a big target with thieves.
